.32-40 Brass

Pick up a nice .32-40 Winchester about 5 months ago and began looking for brass.  Nothing was in stock anywhere.  So I placed a .38-55 order from Starline.  Backordered and told it would be about 4 months.  Waited and just found out that they are not expecting to produce any before the end of this year and maybe later.

So I am now again looking for brass suitable to re-form.  Does anyone have some they would like to sell or know of a source with some in stock?

Re-sizing 30-30 Win or R.P. brass into 32-40 specs is a piece of cake, if you have the 32-40 F.L. sizing die.  They come up a slight bit short, but will be fine if you breech seat your bullet.

Even with fixed loading, they work o.k. and it sure beats sitting around waiting for W.R.A. / Olin to run them sometime in the future.

If you want to shoot from a single case, I will put one in the mail to you tomorrow.  I assume you know what I am referring to; that is not a wise crack, (about shooting from a single case).  I'll be doing just that at the C.S.V. match this week-end.   Smiley

One point of clarification.  W.R.A., of course, chambered some of their repeating rifles in the 32-40 cartridge.  My above comments where based upon the assumption that your purchase 5 months ago was a single shot rifle.  Shooting from a single case would not be my idea of a good time, if the rifle were to be a lever action.

Strider, years ago in desperation because 32-40 was not available I found a large lot of .32 Special. It reforms just as easily as 30-30 but even closer to correct length. Does need one fireforming stage to complete. .32 Special may be more easily found as it is not often considered for this. HTH Regards, FITZ. Smiley

Thanks to all for your postings.  And yes it is a single shot and I do know what single case shooting is.  But I also received a PM from 40_Rod offering a bunch of 38-55 that has been re-formed to 32-40.  So my predicament is resolved.  But it is nice to know that .32 special re-sizes to a longer case than 30-30 and that all of this fantastic support and information is available when needed.
