Harrell Powder Measure Bottles

I like the idea of having additional Harrell's Reservoir bottles for the different powders that I use most often.

The extra bottle come in two styles, one of which has an opening in the base in order to allow the addition of more powder while the bottle is in the inverted position being used.

Question; How is the bottom fill plug held in place in the bottle?  Does it screw in or snap in?  I would think that the screw in plug would be best?  What's your experience?

I'm also thinking that I don't need the bottom plug when reloading a single case at a match.  Just something that can go wrong when I least need that surprise.   Shocked

Good morning Webb. The plugs are friction fit. I believe I have seen similar (if not the same) plugs used to protect the female threads of stainless steel pipe fittings.

I too like to have a separate bottle for the different powders that I use. Some of my bottles have the plugs and some don't. They are much handier with the plug. As to the fit of the plugs; some of mine are quite easy to remove and others have to be pulled out with pliers. I have never had one just fall out. The bottles, by the way, are standard Nalgene 8 oz. lab bottles.

Webb I run the top plug open with a small funnel inserted.  Throw a few charges when setting up or refilling the bottle dumping back in the hopper before throwing for "record"  Also if something interrupts my throw stroke dump the charge and throw again.

Use multiple bottles too, however one is marked "4227 only" and has clicks for charges taped to the outside

Look at the link Rkaires provided. Sinclair's powder measure stand is real useful. Used to use something home made heavy and bulky. Sinclair stand is a good one, fits in my range box.

Thanks gentlemen --  That about tells me what I needed to know.  I guess I wouldn't be seeing Bill (Digitall) a.k.a. "digital Bill", this week-end, it's a long way for him and Matt to drive to Thurmont, Maryland, but maybe the next Virginia shoot we'll all meet up.

I am, however, counting on seeing Bill D. over the 3 days of C.S.V. matches and if we "twist Chris' arm" we can all sit down to a feast of ribs (he doesn't like the potato salad) and some sides with them ribs, and of all things, beer with tomato juice mixed in.  Making my mouth water just thinking about it.

Rkaires was expecting to make Thurmont one of these days and it just may be next week-end.  Hope so  Smiley

Bill drive safely on the way up.  See ya Smiley Smiley  We need to talk about your great grandfather's journey back to Virginia after Gettysburg in 1863.  I wonder if he lasted until Appomattox Court house in 1865.

I WAS planning on being there, but I've got dental surgery on Wednesday.  Painkillers and rifles don't mix.

(I DO remember my teeth hurting from firing max loads from  the .458 some 50 times one afternoon.)

No.  Planned.  A few months ago I had ALL of 'em yanked.  This trip is to drill and tap (insert 'studs' that the false teeth will snap into).  I got tired of the pain and every 3 years getting deep cleaning (more pain and expense).  So 4 months from now I'll have teeth.

(I found that WE have been LIED to!  Did not your parents tell you to chew your food?  You don't have to!)  (Having not had teeth for a few months I KNOW!)

SO, in a month I'll be back to shooting.
