Ingenius!  As the man said, I really wish I knew who came up with this little gem.  It's a pity he didn't do more.  I suspect a provincial gunmaker out in the country.

Beautiful work.

I checkered a few stocks in my younger years when my eyes and hands worked better.  It's tough to do right.  I think it was in the late 60's that they started press checkering.  I was handling Dad's old Fox model B 20 gauge double and noted it was snickered insread of pressed. Not perfect or cut deep but pretty good for a utility gun. Wide borders are to cover the overruns.

I also wish that I knew more about the inside workings of this gun as well, but since I did not specifically have the owner's permission to dissassemble it to find out more, I will remain forever curious!
Maybe! Wink  Action doesn't  look too exotic.  Three bolts: 1 for the carrier and 2 for the trigger assembly

Sure is a pretty rifle with the stock and original pristine metal with sights

Hi All, i have not seen prictures or seen any mention of the .22 "Vickers" on this site ,It was made as a one piece stock  the internals  were pretty much interchangable with the "BSA" but these were not enclosed in the action the same being held in a detatchable hanger .. The breech block attatched to the hanger ,went through a slot in the metal making up the barrel /breach   locating at the rear in a hole by a protrusion on the hanger and a screw  under the chamber end .. ..The barrel /breach was in one piece and  changing to a new barrel or converting one to a different caliber ment cutting of the old barrel threading what was left .. The original stocks were prone to breakage ,but they could be made into nice little guns ..  Rob

Really uncommon in these parts as I recall only seeing one and asked the dealer if I might have permission to handle it. Was in nice shape with mirror bright bore. As usual the heart was willing but the wallet was kinda empty. Frank
