My first Hepburn.

Local auction saturday. Brought this home. Not perfect but the price was good. 38-40 Remington. 26 inch barrel. Great bore. Two holes d and t on the barrel Cry Not sure what was there.
Needs cleaned up a little. First pics.

Ash tray is a 4 inch S&S piston. More into motorcycles.

Nice  rifle, I love #3's.  the screws on top were probably from someone's idea of a scope mount.  I really do wish these things could talk.

That's a great Hepburn, and an unusual caliber for a Hepburn too! I don't see them in .38-40 Rem. too often! Have you done a chamber cast yet to confirm the caliber?

No chamber cast yet. Ball mike and chamber length makes me pretty sure it is a 38-40. 4000 serial number range.
