	Joel, Beautiful Lady Model! Do you happen to know if the barrel shank on yours is threaded or smooth? I remember JJ Grant noting in his books that he ran into both threaded and smooth barrel shanks, but no mention if it was a production change in the 55 that occurred around some date or serial number.

	I honestly never checked to see if it was threaded or not. To answer the other question, it is a .22LR. This is a later Model 55 with a radius cut. (You need to *Login* or *Register* to view media files and links)

	Joel another pair of fine Stevens I have never seen or never noticed the sharp action cut. All I can recall are curved Anybody have comments on the sharp cut . To my eye it's like a cut down side wall on High Walls to aid in loading .22 LR. Is it early factory, custom or gunsmith work ? Boats

	Definitely original. You see the same thing with the sideplate Model. 	With all the flowing lines of the rest of the gun, that sharp cut is really jarring. Fortunately the company changed to the radius cut as it is far superior esthetically.

Boats Real early 44 actions had the sharp action cut too, back in the days when Stevens cataloged the Ideal No. 46, 48, and 50 which were the fancy wood stocked versions of the 45, 47 and 49.

	Since you guys know and I don't, in general terms fractions, how much smaller is the 044 1/2. 7/8's of the 44 1/2 ? Boats

	Boats, Looking at them from the side view, the 44 1/2 and the 044 1/2 are the same size frame. Viewed from the front, the 044 1/2 has been narrowed to a 1" thick (wide) frame. As Joel already mentioned, the Stevens 56 "Ladies" model used the narrower 044 1/2 frame.

	This is my favorite Lady model, because as usual, it proved that my wife is smarter than I am. I was finishing up an article on these for for Gun Report (which disappeared after they went out of business) and I was mulling over in my mind why Stevens would have cataloged all the same high end features for Favorites, but at a slightly higher price. When I showed this Deluxe Favorite to my wife she immediately came up with the answer. She opined that no father would want to buy a "Lady" model for his son. By the way, Stevens could never decide on a name for these. At various times they used "Lady" "Lady's" and "Ladies" This is a Deluxe Favorite. 	I had always thought that all the "Lady's" models were pistol grip, Favorites and 44/44 1/2. How many of the straight grips were made? Frank

	My straight grip model 56 is the only one I've seen, but on the other hand Jim Goergen owns 5 lady models with elaborate engraving, so the answer is that Stevens would make anything for which you were willing to pay.
