Update...............I sent the bullet samples to Accurate Molds to duplicate; the designs have been added to his catalog and can be ordered now. I am disappointed to say that the design he has is not a duplicate of the original. I   questioned him in this regard; was told his process has it's limitations so evidently he can't do an exact copy. As I understand it, he uses a cnc lathe to produce the molds rather than a cherry. So that's where this project is at present. You can contact him at

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links);

Mold drawings are on

Page 5, 37-153M, 37-175M for the .35

Page 7, 42-235M, 42-305M for the .40

I'm still looking for a source to do an exact duplicate. Thanks for everybody's help.

Will

Thanks for doing that. It gives Maynard shooters a source for bullets for the old rifles.

I took a look at the .40 cal. Maynard bullets and they appear to be pretty dang close to original design.

They are close and the price isn't bad at all; just over a hundred for an aluminum two cavity mold, conical and cylindrical in the same block and you can specify band diameter. I'll definitely order one when I know the exact size I need.

Hi Will --  It has been ~ a year and a half, now.  Was wondering if I could receive some feed-back from you as to the success, or the lack thereof (as the case may be), regarding the Accurate Mould Co. Maynard replica 40 Cal bullet?

Are there any alternative or is Accurate Mould Co. the best choice going at this time.

I have/had Rapine Moulds prior to this time and Ray still shows up at Fort Shenandoah, but I need to act now.

Indicator tell me that WillH hasn't been around for a year, so I'm not holding my breath on this request.  Any other 40 Cal Maynard shooters who have purchased the conical 40 mould that would consider posting satisfactions or dissatisfactions ?

I can send you a couple of samples from the 40 cal mold, both #1 and #2 if you want.  Just drop me a line.
Bruce

Hello Bruce -- Would it be possible for me to purchase from you a dozen copies of each of the two 40 Cal moulds that you mentioned above, plus the cost of postage being prepaid.

My situtation is, I recently purchased an original Maynard barrel (1873) chambered in 40-40 which had a neglected bore.  I have cleaned the bore up considerably, but need to validate that it is now capable of becoming a competitive shooter for me.  Otherwise, it will be relined as a second choice.

If that takes place, I will proceed to purchase a bore specific mould and proceed from there.

A P.M. outlining costs, etc. would be appreciated.

Thanks for any help you should offer,
Dr.Maynard

Hello,
Sure, I can get you some, but it will be a while.  I'm traveling for the next couple weeks.  I'll make myself a note and get back to you later.

Thanks Bruce --

That will be terrific when you get to it.  If you will send a personal message I can send you the cost of the bullets, plus a pre-addressed USPS Priority Mail label, plus the cost of postage on a small flat rate box, all there waiting upon your return home.

I gather from the Accurate Mold Co. web page that a mold takes a minimum of 4 weeks, plus, so what you've agreed to do is really helpful and appreciated.
