Stevens 32/40 Model 47 (44 1/2 action)

This is the first Stevens I bought in a few years as I've mostly switched to British rifles. Even for a Model 47, it is rather plain Jane, but its pristine condition appealed to me as did the 30" #4 barrel. I'm really glad I did buy it as the very first shot at my 100 yard target was in the X ring. That is a rare occurrence with my 72 year old eyes and iron sights.

Now that is one fine target rifle.  I bet it would feel right at home in Bavarian target range.

That is one nice 44 1/2! The only problem with it is that it is not in my collection. Great sights also.

Even though this 47 (maybe a 48) is on a 44 action, it is my favorite. It was formerly in John Amber's collection and has 2 Pope Hartford barrels. One is a muzzle loader and the other a breech loader. It has the reinforcing lug on the hammer face and the single set trigger with the hidden screw.

Two beautiful Stevens.  Plain is no negative to me. Just right is better than embellishment

What more could you ask for. They are just super examples of fine old Stevens rifles.
