Anybody have any thoughts on smokeless or duplex loads on this one?

Search back issues of the Journal for an article I wrote making a 297/250 out of a Contender G2.

IIRC, medium rate pistol powders worked best for me. If you can't find it, I should be able to find it in the computer after the matches this weekend.

i used to shoot .297/25 in a break action Rook Rifle. Bullet was a .25acp sized down to a true .25" dia and the load was 1.6grn of Bullseye.

Thanks, it seems 1.5-2gr is pretty std, I guess I'll try that and probably Clays since I load 45 ACP with it and its cleaner.
I'm curious, though. You said you sized 25ACP's down to true 25. It was my impression most of the 297/250's come in around .251" which is 25 ACP slug size.

I had a .300" reamer. I measure slugs from rifles with odd numbers of grooves by boring a hole on the lathe and then easing it open until the slug just enters, then measure the hole diameter. In this case, the slug ewas a perfect fit in the reamed hole.
