Helping A Stevens 44

I bought this rifle two or three years ago and forgot I had it. It needs some help. Forearm missing a sliver, stock cracked, reciever lower tang cracked.  Sent the reciever to John Taylor to try his magic. I still have some pieces of "Firewood" so decided to make some chips.  Just a work in progress.

smoke, Nice work, but I hope you're replacing those "posative" butt plate screws with "negative" ones.    ...MIKE...

Mike

Those are temporary, don't want to bugger the real ones running them in and out.

Well I got my receiver back from John Taylor yesterday. John does absolutely excellent work.  Put the thing back together and took a couple of pictures.  I left the stock a little large in the wrist area on purpose since the 44 seems to be weak in that area.  I have a few more coats of Tung Oil and wet and dry left to do.  The bore on this rifle is pretty good.  Rifelings are crisp pretty bright but a little rough in the lands. Locks up really tight.
