Nice TD I have always thought that is the proper look for a sporting TD.

I have an old nickle-plated parade ground TD.  I probably ought to just give is a good cleaning and a coat of varnish and hang it on the wall but I keep having the itch to do just about the same thing that you did.  Very nice.

Very nice. Back away and get a full side-view shot showing the entire rifle. Going to do the same thing some day in 38cal for our off-hand match.

Because this is my first stock I ran into some problems as a result of some mistakes.  The stock extension is Goncalo Alves or Jobillo from Central America. I cut the stock for a rubber pad and being unhappy with that I switched to Asian Buffalo horn and the LOP was too short.   The nose cap is pewter that I poured in place.  After putting in all the work on that stock, I am thinking about a full length curly maple in a traditional long rifle style.

For the trapdoor?  Well if you do, PM me because I'd love to use that stock to upgrade my g'father's parade TD and take it hunting.  Just figure out what you think it's worth and let me know.  (Look out pigs, hyar ah cum.)

Dawgone! This is a good time. Custom Td's all over the place. I love it. Maybe that Gemmer Hawken article I did in the "Journal last year got some action. At least I would like to think it did. Haven't got time right now, but will post a couple I don't think I have before, a full stock Pennsylvania Lancaster style for a friend in Missouri and my own full stock G/H. I really do love seeing all these custom TD's.

I went digging around for the pictures I talked about. I found some with both the referenced rifles. These aren't the best in photographic effort, but the architecture can be seen. The TD lends itself to many styles. None are wrong so long as you enjoy them Keep making them guys.

You can tell I like older rifles visually. This just shows that whether these types or a beautiful, more modern rifle like you built, well like I said. There ain't no wrong way to build them, just keep building. In this vein Otto, you have made a modern-ish rifle that works. A TD can get clubby, yours isn't. Keep up the good work. If I can ever help, holler.

Dick, I am impressed!  After building mine I wanted to do one on a Brown Bess in curly maple.  I don't have another action layin around so until I find one that will either get back burnered or I'll sell this stock and start over.  Unless you have an idea where a guy can pick up an action and lock?
