Hot liquid lube for paper patch.

This video : (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) shows Potterfield loading paper patch bullets in 40-50 Sharps. Before seating the bullet, liquid (I'm assuming melted) lube is poured on top of the fiber wad. Never seen or read about this technique. Am I missing something?

The video didn't work for me.

I've heard of the idea but it seems less consistent than using a lube ribbon extruder.

Nowadays I rarely use lube.  I use a LDPE wad and wipe between shots.  I get improved accuracy and a simpler loading proceedure.

Chris.

In the past, I have loaded a lube wad into my 40-70SS cartridges by melting the lube and adding the lube to the over-powder wad with an eye-dropper.
I no longer use a lube wad for target shooting, but would do it for a hunting load.
