In the 200gr bullet range AA9 works well, about 13-14gr range. I have enough of it, I won't need to worry about shortages for quiet a long while.

I used AA9 for a long time and when I ran out of it the replacement that I bought was made in Belgium. I then started having some accuracy problems as the day progressed, starting out it shot great but the longer that I shot the worse it became. I eventually discovered that I was getting a carbon build up in front of the chamber and up the barrel about 8 to 10 inches. I now wonder after reading 40_Rod's experience and I know that John L uses mag primers and I have myself with the 300 MP that if I would try mag primers with the new AA9 if that might not solve the carbon issues with the Belgium powder? Might be worth a try as I have several pounds of the stuff left.

Go ahead and try the magnum primers try them against the standard large rifle side by side. If that doesn't work you may have to sift the powders. Charlie Dell used to sift his #7 after accuracy went south with a new lot of that powder. He found that the powder was a blend of different sizes of balls to get the decided burn rate. Charlie used 3 different mesh sifting pans to segregate the powder into 3 sizes and shot each separately. The accuracy returned but it is a PIA.

Joe that is very interesting that they use Vihtavuori and it is the go to powder in Germany, do you know if are they using N110 or N120, one of my buddies tried N105 for medium pressure loads in a couple original small size cases with great success, believe it was 25-20wcf and 32-20wcf standard weight bullets.

I breech seat a older Hoch 196gr PB bullet as cast pan lubed from a Hoch 323195 mould, loaded over 13.1gr of N110 with a oversized .350" 2mm cork wad seated about .150" off of the powder (have never had one move even though I preloaded the  cases with powder and corks wads), have used this load for a long time in CBA and never a problem with anything but my home made lube in very hot weather.

Vihtavuori is THE powder for the 8.15X46R in Germany.  Most use a filler. Tissue paper being common.               Joe.  Smiley

I think at the time that I was probably using Rem 2 1/2 primers I could go back and look at my records to see for sure. But I think that I will try some mag primers when we get some decent weather again. I ain't gonna screen the stuff I'll used it in some heavy bullet loads in a 44 mag and burn it up first or turn it into fertilizer.

I'm messing with N-120 in my 32-40 200 grain Bennett bullet started slow and worked up to 1320 fps starting to shoot pretty good. I'm going to mess with seating a little before I go hotter looks better than 4227 shot a 1.120 in the wind at 200 yards the 4227 was at 3.000 but it was windy and it is not an accurate test to me
