Lechner rifle

Hello
I have a question about a rifle I have owned several years.
The only markings on the rifle are H. Lechner, Nurnburg. There are no proof marks or caliber designations. It is a 8.15x46R determined by a chamber cast. Frank DeHass referred to the action as a Lechner. The rifle is a Tyrol stocked scheutzen. I believe the modern German proof system began in 1893. Was this striker fired action available prior to 1893? If it was not why no proof marks? I no that a definite answer is not probably available, so go ahead hazard an educated guess.
Thanks Mike

I think the proper name for the action is the System Konkurrenz. It was pictured in a 1911 German book I once thumbed through, but I have no idea when it was introduced. I recall the name Büchel is seen with this action; they may have made the action or held the patent.

If my memory system is in order, today. The modern Hoch is very similar to the Konkurennz.

We need pictures.

Click on choose file. Make sure your file/picture is 500 KP or less. Double click on the file. To post more than one picture click the plus to the left of the choose file button. Will let you post several pictures. 200 kp seems to be a good size.

Did you remove the forearm and look at the bottom of the barrel where the forearm sits? That is where the Germans put the proofs.

KWK is correct--the rifle is shown appears to be a Buchel Konkurrenz--
Konkurrenz meaning competition. Buchel is the company/person who developed the system. That doesn't mean it is a Buchel rifle only a Buchel system. There should be a crown over a U and a crown over a B on the right side of the breech block, these proofs are on most German rifles.

Oh, now, that is lovely.  I especially like the checkering surrounded by carving on the right side of the stock.  Really, you must get it cleaned up and out to the range to see if pretty does as pretty is.

Mike, a nice looking rifle you have ... have you shot it lately?

Sure would be nice for a Sticky to have all these neat Schuetzens in one portfolio - Yes?

No there are no proof marks anywhere, breech block or barrel. I have fired it many times with a breech seated bullet. Does not do well, I have 2 stop ring moulds. I plan on casting in the next 2 or 3 weeks & trying them. Any one have thought on lubing a stop ring bullet. What about a liquid alox is it still available, any other suggestions?

Great idea and a good source of comparative information

I have used liquid alox for my stop-ring bullets for years--it works fine. I have a breech seater for my Buchel, but accuracy is far better with the bullet thumb seated in the case.
