This one is a better box than the "suitcase style", because the ammo is always in vertical direction.

In the suitcase, the ammo is in horizontal direction while carrying the ammo.

No problems with sticking powder to the greased base of the lead.

Biggi,  Thank you for the picture and advice.  Someone made a really nice Cartridge box.  Did you make it?  Beautiful hinges and lock. WB

Maybe this thread belongs now to the trade/sale section...

Because of questions, here are the facts:

hight  10 inches (25 cm)
width   5 inches (12 cm)
length 12 inches (31 cm)

weight 6.6 lbs (3kg)

shipping as parcel = 36 Euro = ca. 48 US$

Its a very handy thingy.  Smiley

Including 15 blocks for each 10 cartridges,
a drawer for accessories (cleaning rope, screwdriver, diopter key, etc.),
access from both sides, two doors,
and a lock with two antique looking keys.

Price 150 Euro = 196 US$ + shipping

My, nice box! Biggi, thanx for posting that.  I may endeavor to make one like it out of something N. American.  Figured Cherry would be a treat, thought quartersawn white oak would be possibly more traditional.

The side-mounted lock is an interesting thing but very Germanic/Austrian, never seen an American ammo box with a lock.

The handle on top does not look to be original but something from OBI or IKEA...

If your rifle is not in 7.62 and you can't hit what you are aiming at with de-linked machinegun ammo you are a pretender.

A lock is handy. If you leave the box somewhere at the range during lunchtime, nobody can snitch the accessories like diopter adjusting keys, which are stored in the box drawer.

Yep, and its regulated by law in Germany, that one should lock the ammo.

Would be good enough to close a bag with a plastic cable tie...
...but a wooden box with a lock is more fancy!
