Stevens Walnut Hill Information Requested

Hi,

I have been looking at this 22LR caliber Stevens Walnut Hill to possibly purchase but the owner has little info to offer about it.  There is a circled #4 on the barrel top near the receiver, 28" barrel and serial #17XX.  Action is nice and tight, bore is excellent.

Value estimate and any comments would be appreciated.

With that scope & sights I'd guess between $12 & $1500. Nice rifle & very accurate.      ...MIKE...

Do you have speifics on the scope? Beautiful gun. I would think $1200 to $1500 without the scope. They are extremely accurate. They have the speed lock action. No half cock safety. The last and best of the Stevens 44 actions. Don't see a lot of these for sale lately. I used to see them on Gunbroker fairly often a few years back but I rarely see them now. If you do a search here there has been a lot of discussion on these in the past. If I were you I would not pass on this one. It would be hard to find a better one from what I see in the photos.

Thank you for the replies Mad Mike and SlumLord44,

The scope is a Lyman 10X that is being sold with the Walnut Hill and I think a 144 Tang sight that adjusts for windage and elevation.

Thanks again for responding,

Jim Goergen's got one, not as nice, no scope, Lyman #1 tang, 417 1/2;; he's asking $1550. If the price is right I'd grab that beauty. I think the 417 1/2's sell a little higher because there were fewer made.      ...MIKE...

Friend of mine recently paid 1000 for one like it not nearly as nice condition and no scope. I would have paid same amount in a minute.

One in the photo is certainly worth half again more scoped.

The Lyman 104 sights go for $300-$400 if you can find them. I paid $1700 for one factory chambered in .22 Hornet several years back. It was in similar condition to yours but the Hornet is an even rarer gun. As I said, these are getting harder to find especialy in that condition. Let us know if you get it.
