Remington # 2 RB "Junker"

I bought this rifle ( really don't know why), broken stock, poor bore, broken main spring, (bought a new one from Womack), I had a piece of firewood, so here goes.  Haven't done anything constructive in a long time.

It seems to be coming along nicely.  What caliber?  .22?

Wish it was!  it's 32 RF.  I haven't run a brush through the bore yet, but it looks pretty well done.

Hmmm, if the bores is done in at least you won't feel any compunction about getting it relined in something current.  .32 H&R magnum might be a good choice.

I checked with John Taylor about relining the barrel and converting to .22 RF.  I want to wait see what I can make of it with this wood and then decide if I want to put that much into it?  I have some better wood if this works out.  I haven't made any chips in a long time and may have lost the "Touch".

.22 RF RB small game rifle.  Heck of a plan!  Go for it.

Nice lines on the stock. Don't think you have lost the "Touch".

Hi Val

No that is not my intent.  Always wanted to try to stock a #2 RB and here was the chance.  I picked this one up for a  "Song" and wanted to try to salvage something out of it.  Since it's not a .22, I might part it out.  Since I don't get to shoot any more, I probably would never be able to recover the investment if I convert it to .22RF. Not much demand for a "Left Hand" .22.

Update:

I decided to use a piece of Claro Walnut that's been laying around the shop for several years and make another stock for the old girl.  It's not anywhere complete yet, but seems to have possibilities.

What a beautiful piece of wood. If you don't do it justice, a bunch of us will fuss at you, but looks good so far.

I'm a left-handed shooter and I LOVE .22s...
Just saying...
