I've seen a couple for sale with similar barrels. I assume they are benchrest rifles where there's no weight limit.

Nothing excedes like excess. Sometimes you just gotta see if more is better. 
Joe is right, I have a 40-70, 2" sixteen sided barrel. The idea was to put a big heavy bullet down range to buck wind. Then use the heavy barrel to help control recoil. It worked, but not as well as I thought it should. I get better results with my Smith .32 barrel and small case.

40-Rod it makes your Big Dog look like a Puppy and it's to bad they ruined the Darr Barrel the whole worth in the rifle by having it re-bored.
