George,  I had a cut-down Conn rifle, similar in configuration as your .43 is, but let someone talk me out of it, as I 'thought' I'd want a full length Conn rifle?  Got the rifle, then it just didn't suit me, so it went to a new home. Yup, kick myself on letting that cut-down Conn model get away!
Mike,
The engraving was performed by Ken Hurst, 1998.  As mentioned, have had these 2 custom Sporting Rifles for awhile.  I wind up taking the original Peabody in .45-50 afield much more than I do the 2 custom models! So the 2 custom models set in the safe more than they ever get used. Should probably find them a new home, as prefer to 'use in the field' carbines/rifles, rather than have them as Safe Queens!  At least the engraved one anyway.
