Stevens Model 404 pricing

Looking at one that looks right and is in very good shape. Down side is that the barrel has supposedly been re blued. Case is close to perfect. Wood the same. correct sights and butplate. Wants $1750. I am thinking this would be a fair price if the barrel had not been re blued. May be right anyhow. Opinions?

My opinion ?

That price brings something that jumps it's so good.   Re-blue generally drops price but perfect 414's are very rare, may never find a better one.

Friend of mine bought a pretty good one for 900 at a gun show last month, He figured it 400-500 under priced. I would have paid 1000 easy.

that will make a total of two  I have seen in the last 40 plus years of collecting single shots.  With that rarity I would grab it if it fits in the collection.

What's the condition of the bore, I've got one (404) that's about 90%, but the bore is kind of rough. Had it over 30 years, never shot it.        ...MIKE...

404, bore is supposed to be excellent. He also has another one with 50% case on the reciever and a reblued barrel and refinished wood for $1200. I am leaning towards the $1750 one. Might be time to buy myself an early birthday/Christmas present.
