??Lyman 17A sight height??

Colleagues: How do I determine what height Lyman 17A sight I need for my H&R Officer’s Trapdoor?

If it helps any, the sight now on it is approximately .420” from the top of the barrel.

Getting so I can not clearly see the post/bead and need an aperture sight.

Not being specific, but Trapdoors usually need a taller front sight when installing a tang sight. Not much drop at the wrist. The lowest position of the aperture will determine the front sight height.

Put a plastic or cardboard temporary sight on, with Duct Tape or Zip ties, Zero by cutting it down to correct. then use that measurement.

Most tangs can run real high & accommodate high fronts, only thing is tang sight high means your cheek is up off the stock.  Make the rear suit how you hold the rifle, set the front to suit the rear.
