Uberti/Cimarron Low Wall in 22 LR?

Print Post
Our club has a weekly afternoon Gallery Schuetzen shoot, just a half dozen old flatulents who shoot offhand at 25-ring gallery targets, 50 shots for score.  Most of us are shooting originals, but we let anyone with any kind of a 22 rimfire shoot just to keep some new shooters coming in.  Now some of the new-to-Gallery Schuetzen guys are talking about getting "period correct" rifles, but with both eyes on their wallets.

So the questions are:

Does anyone have any experience with the Uberti Low Wall with DST in 22?

Is this a suitable rifle if you add good sights?

I bought one with the standard trigger, and had to fix some defects. The ejector had to be relieved because it jammed against the fired case and forced it against the chamber wall so that the case had to be pried out. Accuracy was poor so I had a liner installed and the barrel shortened to match. Now it shoots just fine.
Now I wouldn't buy anything made by Uberti.

If the ejector worked properly, would it throw the case clear of the rifle, like a real Winchester does?

I had a low wall uberti in 38/55 and was not pleased and got rid of it, for my money, a good martini would be a better bet for accuracy and at half the cost IMHO.

Like Col Native said several Umberti's at our Rim fire Single shot match.  They work fine, Triggers seem to be good.  Extractors not ejector, no real negative there. I offered an original low wall to one of our shooters, he stacked up the cost, it needed some finish work, vs the Umberti and bought the Italian. I think he's sorry now. First cost of original is little bit  higher re-sale original is worth much more.

New shooters our matches do best with Martini's it seems.  We allow lever actions, Cowboy Lever Silhouette shooters use a lot of Marlin 39A's and do very well with them.

Any one shooting the Pedersoli/Sharps 1874 repro. mini 22LR?  I've got mine rigged with the MVA B-5 & CPA palm rest and am pleased with the result.

Some years ago I bought a cimmaron / Uberti .22 low wall It shot poorly, I was going to rebarrel, but thought what the heck I don't need a 30 inch barrel, so I cut and recrowned it to 24 inches suddenly it was a tackdriver ,put a single set trigger on it and Hoke sight and now it will knock rams to 200 yds. and buffalos to 300 yards all day long
