Looked at seller's feedback.  Wonder if he's trying to resell the gun that "acpat" probably returned.

I sent the guy a note concerning gun and condition, and told him we were discussing it here.  We'll see what happens...

My note to the seller:

Sorry to be making corrections.  the action is a 44, not 44 1/2.  Also, the gun is completely refinished.  No doubt about it.  Also getting bad press on the ASSRA Forum. (American Single Shot Rifle Association)  Might be in your best interest to revise the listing.  ( FYI, I have no vested interest in the sale, and am NOT trying to buy the gun at a low price)

Integrity test...

Is there anything on that 44 that matches the seller's description beyond the caliber?
Wrong case colors, buffed over buggered screw slots, buffed over serial numbers, wood refinished, etc., etc.
I'm shocked if he doesn't know what he really has, and I bet he wont change the description either!

You know, I feel a little guilty in a way, haven't been on this forum since I don't know when, but when I saw this just  had to shoot my mouth off.

garliene (the high bidder at $930.00) is the guy I feel sorry for!!

Just don't like to stir up trouble.

I also sent him a note explaining exactly what it realy is. He never changed the listing. I do this all the time when I see an item listed improperly and most of the time the seller thanks me and changes the listing.

I saw this listing a while ago and recognized it for what it was also.
I considered contacting the seller about it, but after about 5 seconds decided it would probably be a waste of time. Glad? to see I was right.

There is so much BS and misinformation on the auction sites that it boggles the mind. Caveat emptor, P.T. Barnum and all that. . .

Doesn't GB moderate their sales at all?

No, they don't… but they do charge $2 for a "verification" you didn't "ask for."

And 50˘ a month (interest ??) if you don't pay "immediately."

I signed on simply to check out the Lyman 5A scope.   too much hassle for me and sounds like too big an uncontrolled thieve's market.

What are the better, more reputable, on-line gun markets?

(other than our own--OF COURSE)

For what it is worth I have been selling and buying on GB for almost 10 years now. I  have made several good friends via internet sales most whom I have never met face to face. I have bought no less than 50 guns in the last few years and only once felt like I was mislead. Ultimately if you are going to spend $$$$ on an item you should have an idea of what your buying. This could be a case of a seller with a fraudulent listing or just a seller who listed something based on what he was told. I have bought several for less than their market value because the seller did not know what they had and/or had it inaccurately listed.

as to the item discussed the seller cannot modify an ad once there is a bid on it. This is one of GB's rules which protect's the integrity of the sale by locking the description if there is a dispute. It also makes it hard to correct mistakes. I do not know the seller in question but he has over 8100 feedback with 12 negatives. Pretty good numbers.
