New to the forum. My partner and I have been playing with BPCR single shots for several years. Nothing serious. Here is my 45-70 Gove conversion by Jerry Sells. Probably have it CCH'ed after deer season.

Nice looking rifle, is that action an original sporting rifle action, looks to be from the extractor. How long is the barrel?

Total weight?

If your rifle is not in 7.62 and you can't hit what you are aiming at with de-linked machinegun ammo you are a pretender.

It is a converted military #1 with sliding/straight bar extractor. Barrel is 25". I havent weighed it yet but it carries nicely.

How thick is the receiver ring now after being cut into the octagon shape. I once talked to Dave Higginbotham about doing this and he said only the small barrel shank No 5 rifles were suitable. The No. 1s have larger diameter shanks making the ring too thin when cut.

Havent measured it. I forget about the number 5. I guess it could be a smokeless #5 with sliding extractor (1897 if I remember correctly). I hate that Dave isnt around anymore. He was always helpful when I needed a little guidance. I did a side lever conversion (bottom pic) a couple years ago and he provided some very helpful tips.

GBE,
Welcome to the forum.

I think you would be a very popular guy if you would show the modified parts to those two rifles.

I know I would love to see and there was a long past post that never got answered about how to best modify the RB's.

I will do a thread on the side lever and the tips Dave gave on doing them.

Jerry was working although he suffered a stroke and had slowed down. Unfortunately his wife sent me an email yesterday saying he had fallen on the roof of his garage and was seriously injured. I will keep you posted.
