German Schuetzen in 32-40

I picked this rifle up a while back and it was listed as converted to 32/40 and it does indeed chamber a 32/40 case. The maker is unknown and enclosed are the barrel markings , The barrel from what I have read appears to be made by E.F.Schilling forge (the S in the shield) and rifled by someone else. The only marks that I can't decipher are the S.S. and the small SS in front of the serial number. It appears to have been made in Aug of 1911. The number. 1151 under the 8.11 us also unknown. Is this safe to shoot with smokeless powder using either a 32/40 or an 8.15x46r load.I am starting to get overrun by these things ( never thought I would say that) and they don't stand up in the rack very well, when one goes they all go. Any help is appreciated
Bob

I've got a spare corner with nothing to do. Nice.

If it is tight and head spaces correctly I see no reason why you should not take it out and work up a load for. Uses a .319 bullet is a little vague. I would check the groove diameter and the twist rate. If the groove is .319 finding a bullet won't be an issue as .320-.321 bullets are quite common. If it is smaller than .319 finding a bullet might prove to be a little more challenging. Nice looking Rifle and congratulations on your purchase.

Yes ... and enjoy your Aydt

I shoot both smokeless charges in my Aydt. - based on the bullet weights.  Have found the 32-40 bullets are more accurate than the stop ring ones.  Just make sure to slug the bore to verify that it is either 316 or 319 groove diameter though the chamber is for a 32-40 and cast/load your bullets accordingly
