Congratulations to Andrew. That was a very long standing record.

And he did it with a old timey 32/40 and old timey 4227.

I know it's just one hole but, it would be nice to see a close up if it's possible.

Congratulations Andrew.

I'll bet a whole bunch of folks are dusting off those old cans of 4227 - I know I am.

What a great group!

Yes it is very nice that it was shot with a "old timey 32/40 and old timey 4227"

But just what is a "Dave Bennett 210 Gr." bullet. It seems almost impossible for a group that tight to be fired with cast bullets.

<<<But just what is a "Dave Bennett 210 Gr." bullet>>>

It is a swaged bullet made from a Dave Bennett die.
Scope was a Unertl 2" 20 power.

It is a cast bullet made from a Dave Bennett mould.
Scope was a Unertl 2" 20 power.

WOW, Congratulations Andy.
I would have never believed that anyone could cast a bullet that consistent, it just doesn't seem possible, groups that small are hard to get with custom jacketed Match bullets. Hope you have a good supply of those cast bullets or at least can duplicate them next time you cast.

Great scope also, I've been using Unertl scopes for years and they always seem to hold POI, guess this proves it somewhat, but some don't think they work very well.

Just so there are no misunderstandings,  The group was shot with bullets swaged by Dave Bennett.
210 gr to be exact.  If you will look under the heading For Sale or Trade and further Products you will find posts by Big Dave and pictures of breech seaters he makes.  Also a picture of the bullet.
I have no finantial connection with Dave and buy his bullets to try in my rifles.  It seems they are a good match in this Hi Wall.
Great groups are made with cast bullets. Likely when this record is broken it will be with cast bullets.  Until then you might give Dave bullets a try.          andy

Now I understand, they were swaged bullets, and I'll bet a bundle that he didn't use cast slugs to swage them, but I would bet that he used lead wire, now I can sleep better tonight knowing that the group shot was not with cast bullets.

I've been shooting swaged bullets for a long, long time but not in Schuetzen rifles, they always seemed on average to shoot better than any cast bullet I can make and better than any of my shooting buddy's could cast.

Again, Congratulations, that's a fine group with any type bullet, I often wondered why a lot of Schuetzen shooters didn't use sweaged bullets, being that they are so much more consistent than cast bullets better scores should be the result.

I have a question about how the group was measured.  It appears the two fartherest holes were measured from the outside of each then the diameter of a bullet was subtracted from that measurement, is that correct? Hank

That is the standard method for measuring groups.
