This is as small as photobucket will allow but is it small e (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)nough to post? Well, by golly, it posted. I've had this rifle since about 1966. A screw on the right side allows the barrel to be screwed out although I don't believe I've ever had occasion to remove it. Has 3 leaf sight, 100-200-300. Shoots well but kicks a little with heavy loads, only weights 6.5 lbs. Have some more pics if anyone is interested. H12

Any Idea who built it or what it started life as?  Beautiful gun.

I bought the action and buttstock in the 1960s.  It had an extractor for a rimless cartridge, 30/06 size.
That made me think that it might have been 275 rimless (7x57) but that's just a guess. I added the recoil pad and everything forward of the action. I cut the 3 leaf sight for
300 gr. cast at 1800, shoots very well
I assume the action was made by Wesley Richards.

Most likely not made by Westley Richards, they were primarily a retailer and distributor of these type guns.

Not sure who actually made the action, it has the lines of later Breandlin-Greener made actions. Look around on the gun for small marks that might ID the maker.  A good many of thes type actions were made with no identifying marks

I would like to see the extractor system if you could post pictures.  That should be interesting.

The Only early rimless extractor system for these gun in the golden age of these guns are the Peabody-Martini's converted by Styer to 7.65 Turkish (7.65 Argentine)  I have not seen any commercial Martini's in original configuration in a rimless chambering.  What that means is that  I haven't seen...it doesn't mean they didn't exist.

Who did the engraving?

This is a nice looking rifle, congratulations on a very tasteful and well done builld!!!

DD, here's a pic of the extractor, pretty simple, spring loaded piece held in by 2 screws, believe it's original to the gun. The engraving was there when I got it, as well as it's done, I believe that it was done by Wesley Richards.

To my eye the engraving looks American, very good American.

Very simple extractor.

I like this gun!!!

Hmmm...is this where Bob Snapp got his inspiration for his rimless small action extractor?
