The two rifle of which I speak are being offered by the Amoskeag Auction Company Inc. in Manchester, New Hampshire on Saturday, 28 July 2012.  They are;

   2)  Item No. 17, a very fine Marlin Ballard No. 8 Union Hill rifle.

Very nice! Don't see many #6's that are still original. Most were modified in some way or other.

   Marlin Guy ;

   Did you read the write up presented describing how the Number No. 6 had been a wall hanger in Roach's Sporting Goods store in Cambridge, Mass. for so many, upon many, years as a display item only?  There is another such gun store in Warrenton (Northern), Virginia (Route 29, South) named Clark Brothers that comes to mind that has a very similar situation.  They have been there since 1957 (so I am told) and the wall cornices are loaded with original Winchesters predominately, with other assorted makes/brands, that would satisfy any collector's wishes, but they are all marked with file cards printed "Not for Sale".

   Marlin Guy :

   I noticed that the Oregon Arms Collectors two day gun show is coming up on 25 and 26 August '12 at the Holiday Inn at Portland.  It's a good piece for me to do the travel time, but as I recall you posted some photos after the 2011 show with some pretty up-scale S.S. pieces being offered.

  Will you being exhibiting/selling from a table/s at that show?

  Thanks,

I usually have a display and trade table at that show every year, and have been deeply involved with originally starting that show with our club members many years ago. Unfortunately I will not have a table at this summer's show. I will be up at Riverdale Raceway in Toutle, Wa. running my old Austin gasser at the nostalgia drag races this year, and they are the same weekend.

Thanks for the update! Looks like they went at fairly high values with the 15% added on. Certainly not overpriced though!
