When I received my first batch of Bertram 300 SHerwood cases, I set about to reload: first operation, neck expand. The first case split.
Now I anneal them and have never lost another case.

sounds like its real hit or miss on their case heat treatment.  I'll probably go ahead and anneal mine---rather got to a little extra work,  safe rather than sorry.

Anyone ever anneal them over the electric kitchen range rather than use a torch-----or would that be too slow?

You want to heat the neck end up quickly, without heating the head section. The head area should be as strong as possible and not annealed.

I use a torch and put an old brass brush in a short rod section in a hand drill to spin them, just push the brush into the case mouth.

This is why they sell annealers.

Put them in a pan of water up to just below where you want them annealed to then use a torch straight down and tip them in to the water as soom as you heat them.
