Years ago I had a military style Peabody Martini in 50-70 (wish I still had it!) but I don't remember whether or not it had a safety. I saw it for sale a few years ago but the price had gone up considerably.

Dittos on the rarity if it's genuinely in .50-70.  The cleaning rod is from a Remington Rolling Block.  The cocking indicator has been replaced with one that can be used to recock the piece without opening the action should it misfire.  These were common on some of the European sporting martini's of the period.  Early "large style" cocking indicator is correct for this gun if restoring it to a more original configuration.  As mentioned, it is an "A" musket, with the safety, which has been removed.  "B" muskets have no provision for the safety.

This page has some identifying features of the Turkish model pictured.

three thing to ad today. 1)I have been shooting it with a Lyman full lenght scope bases glued on.  it is a very accurate 50-70.  2) I am going to return it to full military.
Now the third thing this morning  I bought it's little brother off the net.  A 50-70 saddle ring carbine.  I should have it in about ten days and will post pictures then.
