Stevens Favorite with knurled barrel nut for lever

FYI everyone,  One for sale at an LGS in my area--only the second like this I have seen in the last few years.  NOT a serious collector piece--stock has been refinished nicely, no cracks in any of the wood, chip at toe under buttplate (which is OK) and the reciever and barrel have been reblued. Standard iron sights front and rear. Did not get a real good look at the bore, but it appears fair--like it was rusted and cleaned up. Estimate 60% to 70% bore condition or so with rifling still visible the entire length. Still, if someone wants one, or the parts or action???  They were asking $225.  PM me and I can tell you where it is.  I have no interest in the sale--just trying to help out everyone here at ASSRA.

These are an interesting variation of the Favorite. Not seen too often but as I recall prices are usually about the same as the normal Favorite.

Are we referring to the one with the large threaded ring at the end of the barrel? Was this one of the methods used to "tighten" up the action? If not, what is the purpose of the ring. I have one of them, but other than shooting it ( .32 rimfire ) I haven't really touched it as it is tight and crisp, although ugly as sin, has a chipped up black shiny paint of some sort on it!

Yes, threaded ring on the end of the reciever end barrel is used to tighten up the action if the gun suffered from the dreaded "leverosus droopitis" Smiley
