Remington Model 7

I have a Remington Model 7 and I was suprised to see that in Roy Marcots book on Sporting & Target Rifles he mentioned that the Model 7 was advertised as being availible in 32rf but he did not at the time of printing know of any in that chambering. Well I had called Mr Marcot and left a message which he returned and we talked about the rifles. It seems that he has owned 2 of these in the past. I also mentioned that Remington made a breech block that was center fire and rim fire and he was surprised as he had personally never seen one. The one I had was just the action but not just any old action. It was a fully engraved action that I had sold a couple of years back. I could not name the engraver but it was a Remington engraver who did the work and it had the convertible breech block. Mr Marcot is going to talk to the new owner of it and get some pictures of it.
Mr Marcot also mentioned that he is working on a new book about the Sharps rifles. This book will cover only sporting rifle and no military rifles at all but will also cover custom work by the old gunsmiths such as Fruend and Gove. This should be a very nice book. He said the photography would be the same quality as the Remington book and about the same size.
What I'm getting at here is that just because a renowned expert has never seen on does not mean to say that the model, or caliber or other alterations do not exist from the factory. There are still deals out there in collecting that still keep surprising me to no end.

The rifle came and it is really nice but not a 32rf, it is in 25-10 Stevens with a great bore. The barrel has been reblued sometime ago but the wood is untouched and in nice shape.

Barrel length is 25 3/4 inches long, and not the original front sight which should be easy to find. The back sight is the hard one so I'm glad it is OK and in nice condition.

Mike,

Congratulations on a sweet #7 roller!
