25 Hornet

I'm looking for information. I know Gil Sengel wrote several articles on the cartridge for either Rifle or Handloader magazine and PO Ackley's 2 volume set has a page write up. Does anyone have copies of this? Load information? I'll gladly pay for copying and postage. Thanks, JB

I think I have both.  Believe the 25 Hornet article was re-printed in one of Hand loaders Wildcat cartridges books.  And have PO Ackleys books.

Give me overnight will let you know for sure.

Charlie Dell shows a load of 8.3grs AA-9 in a 12 twist, with a 95gr. bullet and CCI Primers and no velocity given.

Thanks for the help folks. Bill, I hope you can find it. There were two articles by Sengel. One about building the rifle and I believe another about load information several years later. I believe one in each of the magazines.

John I was wrong, the Gil Sengel Article I have is in Wolfe's Varmint and Small Game cartridges. It's called "Reviving the Small Game Rifle" and is about 25/20's

Hang on, Looks like I was right sort of,  Wolfes Wildcat Cartridges volume II has a Sengel Article about the 25 Hornet. It's later than the one you are looking for.

He refers to Hand loader # 100 when he wrote about the .25 Hornet, not much detail on the one you are looking for.  Then goes on with 4 full pages on the cartridge in a 10 inch T/C contender. This may be the several years later article lot of load data jacketed and cast.

Looks like it's worth reading. Send me a PM with your address will copy it up next few days.

John what is it exactly you are looking for I have Handloader #100 and the Sengal article is Titled .25 Hornet Hunter's Handgun. If it was another article that was written up in The Handloader I probably have it, I just need to know what issue. I also have some issues of the Rifle if you can provide a reference to a time line or the issue it is possible I might have it also. Worst case I scenario is I can thumb through all of the index in all of the issues to try and locate exactly what you are looking for and I would be more than happy to do so for you.

John

Seems to me the one you have # 100 is the first, and one I have is the 2nd one.  Unfortunately no reference in Wildcat cartridges detailing when it was published in Hand loader

If I can get a photocopy from John and Bill I'll be "singing in the rain". It sounds like we've found both issues.

John send me a PM with your e-mail address and I will try scanning it and e-mailing it to you. If that does now work out in regards to overall quality I can work on an alternative method.

John I was snooping around and found another article in Handloader 111 by Gil Sengal titled 25 Hornet Small Game Round would you also have an interest in it?
