Does anyone have one of these they would be willing to sell?

OPS.....original Sharps reloading tools are tough to find and usually a large numbers of $$$$$.   Grin  I can only remember seeing one partial set a long time ago on eBay (listed as shotshell reloading tools of all things) and it included a follower and powder measure like yours, but didn't have the cap awl.  I do know the final price ended up way out of my league.

I have been lucky enough to find 2 molds (the same size) but traded one of them off to a big Sharps dealer in Phoenix.  The other I still have.  Haven't been able to snag any of the other tools.

Nice set you have, are they Sharps marked?

No powder measure, but at least something for you to enjoy.

Ohhh man! that mould cries, use me, use me!! Have you ever cast any bullets with that mould and put a micrometer on them and measured weight and length?  Bob

The tools and the BP measure were made by me.  I am looking for original tools to go with the Borchardt I restored.  I have an original mold and found a full can of Frankfort Armory primers dated to somewhere between 1882 and 1900.  I also made a cookie mold.  However, all my tools have been scaled from pictures.

I have case bullets with my mold.  Have not weighed them but the length is about what the Sharps company advertised them to be.  I found it was hard to keep the mold hot enough--the block did not even change color.  The bullets were good enough to be shot but still had some wrinkles in them.  Also, when the bullet is removed, the cup base attachment leaves a flat spot on one side of the base.  I am inclined to believe some of the stories about casting "perfect" bullets with Sharps molds is myth.
Thanks for the posts guys.

OPS,

I think my friend that you will have to look to specialist dealers to find your required Powder Measures. Sadly you will also have to pay dealers prices rather than shooters prices (Gun dealers don't have any heart or professional curtesy). If your still getting wrinkles on your cast bullete then either the lead or the mould isn't hot enough. More often than not its the former rather than the latter, but I never kept the first twenty five bullets I cast out of any of my big bore moulds. By the time I'd cast 25 the mould should have been hot enough, if your still getting wrinkles then heat up the lead a bit more. The best bet with lead is to use a thermoneter from Brownells or better still two of them, that way you can average out the temperatures indicated.

Harry, my friend, I think you are probably right.  I keep looking for special items and see them on occasion.  Had one of the powder measures picked out in a Rock Island auction--you can see it in the link below:

It is located in the lower right, third item up from the bottom against a Dupont powder can.  I don't know if the person who won the auction knew what it was before he bid but the lot sold for $1955--too steep for me.  I tried to contact the winner through RI auction but the person did not answer my query.  Will keep looking though.  Thanks!

old-win.....I have not cast with the mold above, mainly because I don't believe it has ever been used, no lead or lead oxide, nothing showing in the cavity, no bluing from the heat on the metal anywhere.  Doesn't mean I won't cast with it, just haven't.  I did cast with the one I traded away and it worked very well, even the sprue cutters.  3rd one from the left below.

Now if I should run across a nice original Sharps in 45.2-1/10, wellllllllll....... Roll Eyes

The bullet mikes .456" across the patch, don't remember the as cast diameter.

OPS.....if  I remember correctly, the auction I mentioned also ended around $2000, but it had more Sharps things and the rest not worth much.

Nice machining on your tools.....
