The throating style, I learned from Etz Johnson and Cliff Perry both record holders until the late 90's. I feel that you need ball seat and a leade between 1.0 deg and .5 deg to be successful with fixed. The std 32/40 has nothing but 21.5 deg angle in front of the case and nothing else and the neck has almost .008 taper. Good for BSing but not for accurate fixed. You would need to size the neck for each shot to fit the base band. I forgot to say that my necks are cylinderical and have no taper.

While these are all HV fixed (the one group only 3118 being the exception) loads and targets, I see no reason why 1400 - 1450 or slower loads couldn't be a regular thing.
