Specifically, which parts do you want to interchange?

Going to hijack this thread (apology to sholly) and ask the same question about Winchesters. Will parts like trigger tangs, hammers, extractors, etc. from a low wall fit a high wall assuming both are flat spring? Very limited experience with either.

Chuck,

Talking old original Winchesters here, some parts will, some won't. Some are close, and can be modified slightly to work.

Tang thicknesses can vary as measured top to bottom. Same with the rear portion of the trigger that the trigger return spring contacts, a h/w trigger tending to protrude further below the lines of a l/w receiver.

Extractors vary too. The exposed portion of the extractors you see at the bottom of the receiver below the pivot next to the front of lever are slightly different in the way the radius and straignt lines blend from the h/w to l/w, and it's not just due to variances in polishing. You can encounter different distances as measured from the center of the extractor pivot hole to the top of the hook at the chamber as well.

There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading, the few who learn by observation, and the rest who have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.

The 414 is the adult sized version, i.e., the Ideal #44 action.  The lever and block from a 44 would probably fit.

However, the Favorite is the kid's sized action.  The parts from a Favorite are too small for the 44-sized actions.

BP,
Thank you, good answer. Sounds like maybe so, maybe not. Probably need to learn more about Winchesters before I get serious.
