Shot my 250 Roller today

Well, I finally got geared up to shoot the 1901 roller rebarreled with a HV contour 250 Savage.  I used quickload to determine a 36000 psi load for 87 grain bullets and wow, I got two groups of 5 shots less than 3/4 inch at 50 yards using 33 grains of IMR 4895 and 87 grain Speer bullets.  That was an expensive trip to the range as now I have to come up with a scope dedicated to this rifle only!  One group had 4 shots into 3/8".  Thanks to all who helped me learn more about the Rolling Block as I hadn't owned one in 40 years.  Tom

Be sure to watch your fps with a chronograph. It's my impression QL isn't too reliable at predicting peak pressure from charge weight. It seems to be pretty good at correlating peak pressure to fps, though.
