I have an interest in 25 caliber in general.

I have a couple of 257 Roberts in bolt action and I have a 25/20 SS in a CPA that I recently acquired and have not fired yet.  I have received some loads to try when the weather gets better.   

Forget the books and get some copies of current match results and equipment lists that include the load data and do what the guys who finish in the top three are doing and spend the money to pickup the same components they are using. Better yet if you are able to get contact information call and talk to them personally or shoot them an e-mail. I have enough books to choke a couple of horses and all I got for my money was a whole bunch of outdated and useless information. 

A copy of last years ISSA National Event is priceless for acquiring this type of information and money well spent. Copies should still be available just contact one of the board members and they should be able to help you out.

While you are on the reference books buying spree, add the Lyman Reloading Handbook, 49th Edition.  Pages 166 - 167 has 48 different loading data for the 257 Roberts by bullet - powder - charge (min & max) - velocity & pressure, including the round OAL and bullet BC & SD.  In addition in BOLD print, they list the best recipe because they have tested all the 48 different loads for accuracy

BTW, on pg 163 of the Lyman's 49th, they have 11 recipes for the 25-20 too  

PS, you have two 257 Roberts in the safe and don't know what is the best reload for them?  What do you do, just look at the rifles and not shoot them?
