Am new to this game and want to make up some Emmert's lube. Where does one go to buy yellow beeswax? Also what is the correct way to prepare new brass for breech seating? Thanks. Dale.

Dale - I get bee's wax on ebay.  There are several reputable sellers there.  There will be someone along pretty soon than can answer your brass question better than I can.  John

Thanks John. Found some. Don't know why I didn't think of that in the first place. Dale.

The only thing you really need to do is to bell the mouth so that you can feel a little drag when chamber or fire a fixed round.

There was a fellow in Fernley Nevada by the name of Bob Williams who pickup up some 100% pure beewax at a Navy surplus auction quite a few years back. The Navy used to lube the mooring ropes with it and I picked up three flat rate USPS boxes for just under $30.00 including the shipping. I don't recall the exact weight as it was quite a few years ago and it amounted to a lifetime supply plus after giving one box away to a close friend and fellow competitor. If it is the same gentleman the quality was as advertised and it is some very nice beeswax.

If you have a local farmer's market, see if a local beekeeper is selling honey. Ask him/her. I've had good luck this way, and no shipping!

I looked on the board and searched but didn't find -  do you have a link?

Here is a place selling beeswax beads for about $6 per pound.  Very pure stuff.  I've used it for a couple of years.  They also have some interesting oils and lanolin.

There is a big price difference for the different qualities of bee's wax you can purchase.

You can get the local slightly cleaned bee's wax that is yellow because it still has a bit of honey in it and also has a few bee remains also mixed in.

Or you can get the highly cleaned yellow bees wax that is still yellow (from embedded honey) but has all of the bee parts cleaned out.

Or you can get the highly filtered white bees wax which has the embedded honey removed.

Some of the high end, highly filtered white bees wax sells for $25 a pound. We use the white bees wax when we produce the Alberta Schuetzen lube since we do not like the carbonization caused by the honey(liquid sugar) embedded in poorer quality bee's wax.
The higher quality bee's wax can be found in candle making shops.
