Strange trapdoor stock

Bought this trapdoor a while back. Needed some stock work. Noticed this strange inletting. Looks like it was set up for a pinon and pin to hold the barrel in. Any idea what kind of stock this is?

The stock is inleted for a ramrod spoon so is a civil war stock someone put the rifle together.
As a friend said PARTS IS PARTS.
Bannerman built a bunch of these for sale when the armory did not sell arms to civilians, but did sell scrap parts from the armory.
Sorry for the information.

As you can kind of tell from the 2nd picture. The stock was cut at the bottom barrel band. Now I wonder if the stock was not just cut, but an older stock was cut off and a newer stock was poorly added to the front of the lower band. Was a really poor job of patching. I took it apart and fixed the joint. Sturdy now. Thing is the front portion has the cleaning rod stop inletted perfectly. Back half has an older spoon inletting for a earlier cleaning rod. Crazy trapdoors. This is definitely a parts gun. Has wrong screws in the lock, tang, and none in the trigger guard. Had a dark bore but ended up being mostly fouling. After cleaning it has the strongest lands of any trapdoor I have seen. Early 5 digit and 2 click tumbler! Shoots well! more pics!

Notice repair is not noticeable with band in place. Also, wrong band! Wrong band spring!! It is a R marked, Remington 03a3 band spring!!!

Hey Jim, don't worry about the TD. You said it shot well. Good enough. Do whatever you want to, it's not going to effect the value. So have fun with it. Treebone makes a good stock if you want it to still look military, and I seen to remember a sporter of some kind. 'course you could also make a Gemmer/Hawken or scheutzen or some other really neat rifle out of it. So, have fun with it.

I see it has the barrel band for the buffington 1884 sight. All of my trapdoors are put together. some shoot well, some don't, but they are fun!! I like the dark wood on your piece. Enjoy!

Hey Jon, It's amazing how accurate some of the originals are, isn't it. So again Jimmy, have fun with it and keep us up to date on your progress. If'n I can help with anything, give a holler. I've fooled around with a "few".

This is my 3rd trapdoor. Quickly becoming one of my favorite single shot designs. Never thought something could match my stevens 44s or rolling blocks. Though one of my rolling blocks is still the favorite of all.

Only bad thing about this last trapdoor, is the slight pitting in the bore. While it does shoot well. Cleaning black powder fouling out of a less than perfect bore can be a pain. I have a feeling it will get easier the more it is shot. Maybe smokeless would be easier?

Sure wouldn't hurt to try it. I kinda am in love with these old hunks of iron and wood. If you go to smokeless and cast your bullets, like any firearm you will find a combination it'll like. Have fun Trapdoors are the greatest. Unless, of course you want to shoot a scoped rifle. Then it gets a little more complicated. Undecided
