Got a port-side photo? I'm just curious to see how the rear sight is mounted. Need my vision of it confirmed.

Good score, BTW.

What you see is the way it is. I don't know any more about the mounting than what can be seen.

How could the rear sight be mounted in a more comely fashion? It's such a handsome rifle from the off side.

Drill and Tap it for scope blocks then pickup an Iron Sight adapter that fits on the rear block from CPA.

Nice looking.  I believe the barrel has been replaced.  I think the standard barrel Ruger offered was a 22".  The only exception was the Lyman Centennial commemorial.  I find the 22" barrel a little unpleasant to shoot.

check the twist rate,  I'm sorta guessing its a long range modern creedmore rifle with the correct twist for long range heavy bullet loads. might be a faster twist Badger barrel If my understanding is correct Rugers would not be legal in BPCR. which sort of limits it to modern single shot long range.  maybe the Quigly type matches,  I'm not sure but I seem to recall they a are a mite more open-minded with actions than the BCPR

I believe that to be correct. It was used in the 1995 NRA National Silhouett Championships, at least according to the sticker on the stock. I have not been able to find the statistics of that year/match to know WHO fired the gun there.
I am starting a photo thread with all 4 Ruger #1's.

c.robertson I had the same problem with sights on my Son's #3 Schuetzen rifle, ended up using a Lipski adapter to the Weaver style base on the barrel, not very nice looking but my Son also shoots a Martini 12-15 22rf that has similar style sights so he likes the Redfield we adapted to the rifle.
Mike

Sorry about the photos they should not be so large! Fixed the darned things!!!

Kermit if you are looking for a stock set for a number #3, the last one at the bottom of the page on the below link from Treebone Carving and with the addition of an ebony tip would be absolutely gorgeous in my eyes. This is the stock set I plan on putting on my #3 32-40 if and when I can come up with the funds.
