Ideal Moulds

I have a Ideal mould with small handles, the mould is loose at the hinge, are these moulds pressed together, how should I tighten the joint.
This mould is marked 415-175--it makes a bevel base bullet of 310 grain-415 Dia, what rifle would this mould have been made for.   ledball

My guess is that it's either a 40 caliber in a 1882 Maynard or a  Bullard cartridge.

Ledball you got your lost L back.

The joint is loose?  It must have integral handles? It's an old Ideal?   Think its a rivet. I'd use a ball peen hammer around the outer perimeter of the rivet head. Go easy and check often.

Looking good with all your Ls  Wink

My old Lyman cast bullet handbook (bought in 1966) says 415175 is for the .40-90 Ballard.

Joe,
He's always had plenty of L's, it's his "a" he lost. But, thinking back; he seems to have mellowed since he lost it.

Looks like you guys are correct, my cotw says the Maynard used a .415 bullet--didn't know that-never owned a Maynard. thanks to all.   ledball
PS  which I had my "a" back, but its better than having an "s" on the end
