This Stevens .22 does not have Favorite on it anywhere. Any ideas?

I am not sure about the time frame but there was a period when they did not say Favorite on the gun. Stevens was bad for not putting model names and/or numbers on their guns. This can be a good thing. I have bought a couple of interesting Stevens guns for very reasonable prices because the seller had no idea what model it was and I knew what it was.

Where is the slot in the barrel for the extractor?  7 o'clock or 6 o'clock?
If it doesn't say Favorite on the top it'sbefore 1915.

If the extractor slot is at 7 o'clock the DeHaas book I have says it's 1896 thru 1901

Also look for some dates in fine script on the rear tang sight the base, though they can be changed and the sight may not be original to the gun.

The extractor is at 6:00. There is nothing on the tang under the sight.

How about in VERY fine print on the outside edge of the sight base itself? Should be some patent dates there

The sight says Lyman, July 25, (1905?). I'm soaking the sight to get some crud off and maybe I can verify the year.

Do that and I'll check my DeHaas book tonight for some more clues--if one of the real collectors here doesn't beat me to it!  Smiley
Let us know,

I could not get clearer date from the tang sight even with a good scrubbing. I appears to be 1905 but I don't think it was well struck by Lyman.
