25-21 Stevens Brass

Does anyone know of a source for 25-21 Stevens brass? I know I can get it from RMC, just wondering what else may be available. Jamison brass is only good for less than 20 shots.

Did you mean to say Bertram Brass? I know they make it. I think it is $60 or so for 20. I had a few that held up a while.

Quarter_Bore,

You're right. I meant to say Bertram. Sometimes I scare myself.

Wish I could find a source too! And Bertram brass isn't even good for 20 shots in mt experience with my Stevens! Some didn't make it past the first firing!
Forget Buffalo arms, they sell Bertram, and when it fails neither Bertram nor BA will stand behind it.

Graf & Son's also shows it as being a stock item but currently they appear to be out of stock.

Has anyone used RMC brass, and if so how does it hold up?

I took my 28-30 to the range today.  Used my RMC brass for the second time.  No problems encountered.

I have some Bertram also.  Bought 2 boxes.  I annealed it before firing.  36 of 40 cases survived the annealing & resizing before firing processes.  I am on my 3rd & 4th loading with the 36 survivors.  I also got 40 original UMC cases (last made 1914) with the rifle in 1967.  I think I have about 35 left.

RMC appears to be a LOT better than Bertram.

I'll agree with Waterman. The .25/20SS Bertram brass I bought ended up with a 20% reject rate after 5 firings. Bought some of those and .28/30 cases from RMC and after about 15 shots with each  have had no failures. In fact I used up only two .28/30 cases all one Summer (breechseating) at our bi-monthly matches. Probably at least 200 shots with each.

I have used 80 RMC 32 Ideal cases for 7-8 years and lost only one Cry while trimming to length to fit my rifle, the breech seat loads in my CPA are about the same pressure as my buddies loads in his 32-20CPA BS loads. Also bought some 25-20SS cases before Jamison came and went, still use those cases after many reloads, none lost so far , IMHO RMC is very good brass.

Haven't used RMC for my .25-21, but I use it in some other odd calibers and it's always been top notch! Not cheap, but well worth the price.

Compare the cost-per-shot between RMC and Bertram:  Both cost about $2 to $3 per case, maybe more, maybe less, depending on caliber.  If you get 10 shots from a Bertram case, that is $0.20 to $0.30 per shot.  If you get 50 to 100  shots from an RMC case, the cost per shot is somewhere between $0.06 and $0.02.  If you figure that you lose some of the Bertram stuff in the initial annealing, forming and first-firing, the Bertram cost-per-shot is even higher.

Another thing about the Bertram .25-21's and .25-25's is that the rim, base and length dimensions are pretty loose.  About the only thing you can count on is that the length dimension, though variable, will always be shorter than the original shells and chamber.
