The action may be a custom one off but I doubt it, looks German to me or Swiss. I do not think the F on the actions left side is the maker, probably the owner.
If it were mine I would put it out there on several forums including the British Rifle forum, could be a British gun. Is this in 22 rf or is it a CF action?

A friend of mine picked up a R2 Lovell this year with an Eric Johnson barrel built on a High Wall action fashioned after the once popular Varmint rifles of the time. The stock has a through bolt and double set triggers and it is a work of the gunsmiths art. Not sure who put the whole thing together but whom ever it was they did a very professional job in doing so.

Eric Johnson was a barrel maker. He was known primarily for his excellent Small Bore Rifles. he also built a Hammerless Breech block for Ballards. He worked in the 30s I believe for Hoffman Arms an upscale custom gun buider in the midwest and then when that failed he worked for Dubois (Spelling?) Arms Co. He later moved to the Connecticut area and went into business for himself. His .22 cal barrels were very popular. He graded them I believe with either Star stamp or Heart stamp. The more the better. Have seen Eric Johnson barrels with 5 stars which was his best. Still not sure in my mind if it was stars or hearts. His work was top end. I have not seen a poorly built Eric Johnson rifle. It's as though everyone who got one realised he had a fine rifle in his hands and so did not mess with them. I have a Hammerli Team rifle in 30-06 from Dubois that was barreld when he was there so I believe it is one of his barrels. It shoots excellently  and is a tack driver. Unfortunately it weighs just over 18 lbs and is not so much fun to shoot offhand as it once was. Hope this helps.

I'm going to say that it's German and that the trigger may have been changed from DST configuration.

Can we get a pic with the lever down? I'm betting it has a hinged breech block like mine. If not, it's a Adyt of some sort.

Phillip,
The March '47 RIFLEMAN has an Eric Johnson story/bio that you may find informative. There's no mention of him making an action. It looks familiar, but I can't place it right now-have to get out the DeHaas books. Hope this helps.
Good shooting.

My guess is, it's either a Weihrauch or a Haenel.  The pin layout is almost identical to my Weihrauch.

Thinking early Weihrauch.  Pretty foggy but think they started right after  WW2.

Wasnt there a Weihrauch action for sale on the forum earlier this year?

Below is my Weihrauch HW52.

Well since no one else has told you, the ASSRA owns Eric Johnson's shop records.  I don't know that they are currently accessible, the archives are being moved, you would have to ask.  Ten or fifteen years ago Rudi Prusok looked up my Eric Johnson Ballard for me.

The action is German, probably a bring back, is it marked?  It resembles the Haenel KK Sport, but may be something else.

There was a connection between Eric Johnson and Hoffman Arms (or whatever they were called).  Hoffman also made a single shot action, mainly as a 22 rimfire target rifle.  The Hoffman action looked something like that.Darned rare.  There was a discussion & photo on another forum.  I went looking but cannot find it.

Michael Petrov, if you are tracking this, please contribute.

What about that breech block? It looks like it's rivited together, I've never seen anything like that.

Here is what I have found out.

It is a 22 LR rifle

Eric’s records indicate that barrel number 517 was installed on a “German Falling Block,” serial number 100, on August 7, 1945 and shipped on the 8th to Jack Folk, 4049 Castor Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa.

Not much available on the action so far.

Here is the action open.  Any suggestions on ballpark value?  I have waaaay too many rimfire rifles and after I shoot it a few times I'm sure I'll want to let it go.
