Anybody else see this on gunbroker? I did not think these actions were wide enough for the 45-70. The CPA 44 1/2 comes in 45-70 but it is wider than the originals. Would not want to fire this one!

We all know the answer where ethics are concerned, but should someone sell something that is a potential bomb?  Does ignorance excuse the seller from liability?

Sure wish he'd shown a picture of the chamber end of the barrel. But then that might scare potential bidders away! Seeing as nobody is bidding yet, they may already be scared! Smiley

That one doesnt have a removeable lower tang. Thought all 44s had separate lower tang..Sure that isnt a Stevens Favorite?

The standard 44 with a plain trigger had a integral lower tang in all actions that I've seen.

I think the separate lower tang on a 44 may depend on when the action was made.  I have a single trigger 47 in 28-30 on a 44 action.  It has an integral lower tang.  If I understand the Stevens variations, 28-30s on the 44 action were only made 1900 to 1903.

Oops I am an idiot..Got the 44 confused with the 44 and 1/2...Believe I need to keep quiet on this forum.

From what I've seen, Stevens 44's with the standard trigger had an integral lower tang, but if your 44 had the double set triggers, the tang was removable. 

It's good to be corrected every now and again. Helps clear out the cobwebs, which I seem to accumulate a bit faster nowdays.    Smiley
