short 358/357 cartridge

Has anyone worked with a short 38 cal cartridge for 220 yard targets.  I know the 357Max and similare cases are used for the various .32 Dell/Miller cartridges and there has been a fair amount of work upgrading the performance with the 32-20 with heavy bullets.   When I shot silhouette pistols we had some guys loading heavier .38/357 rifle bullets in .357s for more knockdown on rams @ 200m  I did it some with a long barrel DanWesson 357.    I'm wondering about long heavy for diameter cast bullets in a 357mag or 357max case.

I know Corky is experimenting with a 41mag tapered down to 358  but I think I'm more interested in a straight case rendition.

Corkey was working on a shortened .38 he may chime in here. I can't remember what he used but for some reason I thing it started life as a 30-40 case that was shortened and tapered.

Yeah he has it in that cannon-barrel on, I think a CPA action, but I thought he had straight tapered a 41 mag case.  If I dimly recall correctly it was almost a direct proportional increase of the .32 Miller/Dell  Dell/Miller.

I'm thinking of interesting things to do with another #2 roller.   the original barrel is strictly a reline candidate

I'm shooting 12gr 2400 behind the 180gr RCBS sil. bullet in a 38spl. marlin lever gun. It is very acurate. Rifle requires less powder than the pistol load due to the extra barrel. I shoot this bullet in all my 35cals.

The cartridge that Corky has been working with is a .41 mag. necked down to .375. It's pretty much a scaled up .357/.32 Dell, Miller short, etc.

When I worked up the reamer drawing I compared several aspects of the cartridge to the .357/.32 such as case capacity to bore, case capacity of the .357/.32 vs. .32/40 and this case vs. .38/55. The final conclusion was "looks like a good place to start". So we called it the .38 EG (Etna Green) and ordered the reamer.

The last time I talked to Corky he hadn't had much time to play with it.
