Stevens Scope Question (Read 4379 times)

	Looking for info and value of a Stevens Scope. It looks to be 6 power maybe a bit more. It is marked: J Stevens Arms & Tool Co Pat. PNDG NO 368 Chicopee Falls. Mass USA it is just over 16" long and has a non-click adjustment rear mount. I was told they are Winchester mounts. Their only marking on the mounts is Pat NOV. 5 1907 Photos here. 	Nick Stroebel's 2008 book on Sights and Scopes says $850 to $1250 with mounts and $550 to $950 for the tube only. I am not sure how the Winchester mounts would affect the price. I think prices may be down from 2008 or Stroebel's prices may be high because I have been able to buy scopes for considerably less than his prices on occasion.

	I'd say Nick's prices are a bit high in today's market. Maybe 20%-30% high from what I've seen these Stevens scopes go for. To a collector the Winchester mounts will be a deduction, but if he can use them on another scope, then it wont be much deduct.

	Wow, Thanks for the info. No wonder when I originally posted this on a MSN board, all I got for a reply was "how much you want for it?" There are two small chips in the glass, I tried to photograph them in one of the shots. They do not show up quite so dark in the actual image. Thanks Jack.

	I saw a Winchester A5 in pretty well used but mechanically good condition at a show last weekend. All correct. 450 bucks. It was a pretty good deal for a Winchester. Somebody may pay more for a Stevens in the same condition but I doubt it. Chips cut the value by half at least. If not bad they make very little difference to the actual performance. For sure they hurt the sales price Boats

	I have the same scope with different mounts and I'm missing the front element. The image is very clear with the stand cross-hair sight.

	I agree with Boats on this one $400.00 to 450.00 for good shape is about right. You may find some idiot on fleebay who will give you more. I don't know what Stroble smoked before he came up with that price what ever it was ... 40 Rod
