7.5 swiss

I have commissioned a bullet mold for my late (post 1915) model 7.5x55 Swiss Hammerelli-Martini from AccurateMolds.com (their number 31-200f, nominally a 200 gr bullet) and hope to have in in had in a relatively short time.
The late model  rifle is perfectly adequate for modern high velocity jacketed bullet factory ammo in this cartridge.  It is the same action that was used by Springfield for Intl. Free Rifles they built in the .30-06 for the US team in the pre-ww2 era

Until I can come up with a breech seater for the Martini action I'll probably be shooting fixed ammo seated as far out as possible for starters.  This will basically be an offhand rifle so fixed ammo may be perfectly adequate  (considering my skill level at least)

I am interested is starting load suggestions,  I have a quantity of DuPont SR 4759 that I hope will work well.

I have been shooting 20 grains 4759 with a 200 gr bullet (RCBS 308-200 gc) with 1.5" vertical c/c spread at 100 yds from my Swiss K31 army rifle with 6x scope, fixed ammo, 10 shots.  Same load gives 4" groups at 200 yds.   Not schuetzen accuracy, but good for army rifle competition in CBA military matches.

Found all Swiss army barrels measured with pin gauges had .296" groove diameter, rather than US typical .303-304" dia.  Improved accuracy when started swedging bore ride  portion of bullet to .296" dia.  Might want to measure the groove diameter of your barrel to check that dimension.

Having bought three excellent molds from Accurate Molds in Salt Lake City, I expect that Tom could provide a mold that reflects my needed .296" dia bore ride/.308" dia base.

Thanks for the starting point.  that helps a lot.  I appreciate it.  take a look at Accurate's 311200f Its a new one on his list. I just had him do that  for me and its now in his list.  Its based on the CBA designed Nightowl k31 bullet---minus the gascheck and plus a second lube groove.  same boreriding nose (with a meplat) and the tapered section back to the body.   I'll be casting some up tonight might get a chance to try them, shooting fixed, no martini breechseated yet.

Those Swiss Hammerlis are beautiful rifles. I have had one of the 30-06 ones in my hands and it took a long time to wipe the drool off. My K31 loves Lyman 308329 which is about as exact a cast bullet as you can get to match the original GI. With the iron sights and my old eyes (wish I had a scope on it!) and 14.8 grains of IMR 4227 it will put 10 in 1.5 MOA at 100.
