Based on your criteria, most everything is a bastard match except those competitions where most anything is allowed, as the rifle never quite fits the discipline. But, that's what makes it a challenge and knocking over steel animals is great fun.

Hopefully, we will get a Schuetzen match scheduled starting next season. Now that I have another 32-40, I do need something to shoot it at if I'm not going to have it rebarreled.

I agree with Boats.   And then throw in the no Borshardt rule, WELL!  It is a bastard match.

I'll also agree it's fun. Last time I shot a BPCRS match I used my 40/50SS with a 300 gr bullet on the chickens.  No painful recoil. The chicken score was painful.

Not to criticize anybody's sport just an observation when it comes to setting up a rifle for BPCS. Perhaps Bastard match is too strong but it's sort of like having a prone mid range match with a pistol leg thrown in. Most other shooting sports need similar equipment whole match or in the case of over the course Match/Service rifle equally balanced legs requiring a good all around rifle.

Many people that shoot BPCS go for the x sticks legs and throw the chicken leg away.  Few others work hard on Chickens and shoot a rifle thats not real powerfull giving up Ram Knockdown.  Perhaps a better winning strategy.

I had a lot of fun when I shot it and still shoot way more NRA Silhouette than anything else. Was match director at our club for BPCS for a few seasons long time ago but we never got the turn out we needed to keep it on the busy club schedule. We do have two other well attended monthly single shot matches.
