Scope Question

Print Post
I recently came across another Super Target Spot (Dot) for my usage. It has something interesting that I have not seen before.

There is a machined brass tube about 1-1/2 inches long screwed into the end of the eyepiece that is easily removable. The tube contains what appears to be an appature of some sort - no lenses. Does anyone have any info on what it is or for?

I may try to post a photo if needed.

Thanks Much:

What is the diameter of "what appears to be an aperature of some sort" ?

The brass tube is exactly the same diameter as the scope eyepiece. The "Apperature" appears to be about 3/4".
It easily un-screws to use the scope as normal.
It has been suggested that it may be an adapter for indoor smallbore 50' use?

Freeland's made items like this, I have one and it appears to make the cross hairs darker on mine, but I think it may be to help reduce the possibility of parallax. There were different size inserts (hole size). Mine is on a Unertl. JMO may want to dig up an old Freeland catalog and see if they list and explain there official intended use.
